We met in again the computer lab.
The students added hyperlinks to their pages using both text and an image as the link element. One of the students had a problem with the filename extension for the image file. We were unable to resolve the problem, in part at least because of the way the Windows operating system handles file extensions. By default, extensions are hidden, and because the security on the school computers doesn't appear to allow changes to this setting, we were unable to change the extension for the saved image file to match the extension specified in the image tag. We spent a considerable time trying to resolve this problem and as a result did not have time to upload the new changes to the student pages.
To address this problem for the next session, a variety of images have been preloaded to the johnsislanders.net home directory which may be used in student pages. The available images, scaled to 40% of the page width, appear at the end of this page. For the next session a sample menu allowing the user to select a background color for the page is shown below for the students to copy.
